A sophisticated bifunctional catalyst bearing a copper(I)/N-heterocyclic carbene as well as a guanidine organocatalyst has been prepared by a mechanochemical synthesis within a ball mill. This method circumvents generally employed silver(I) complexes which are associated with important and undesired waste formation. On account of the bifunctional nature on the preferred complex, earlier mechanochemical circumstances had been not applicable and also a new protocol based on low-cost and readily offered K3PO4 as base has been created. The resulting complicated has been shown to be active inside a selection of reduction/hydrogenation transformations employing dihydrogen as terminal minimizing agent.
